Spiritual Psychotherapy

Spiritual psychotherapy is a therapeutic modality that holds, as its foundation, the awareness that the entire universe is a manifest expression of an intelligent and conscious life-force (spirit) - and that humans are one expression of this life-force.

In this way, we are seen as both manifest (body/mind) and un-manifest (spirit).

Human beings are understood to have the capacity to turn their awareness within and consciously experience their identity with this energy, which is the true source of empowerment. This is experienced as independent Joy. By healing the mind and gaining self-awareness we come to live in a joyful state more and more and live our lives accordingly.

This vision of a human being as both an individual personality and a universal soul describes the context for spiritual psychotherapy. We are unique individual expressions of life that have, in some ways, become unconscious of our connection with the source of life, which is our fundamental identity. We move through life experiences to regain this awareness and experience the joy of being our Self. This awareness allows us to move with intention and create a life that expresses who we truly are.

The therapeutic process is an empowering and engaging experience that helps us to realize and transform limiting beliefs and thoughts that do not support us and hold us back from being who we truly are. It involves the expression and healing of draining and disabling feelings such as anger, grief and sadness.

Some of the techniques employed include: dialoguing, guided imagery, emotional release, inner child work, meditation, bodywork, and the use of musical instruments for sound healing. One may wish to explore journaling, intuition, past lives, or personal spiritual growth as a means of getting in touch with the big picture.
